RM of Meota’s story
The Rural Municipality of Meota No. 468 incorporated as a rural municipality on December 13, 1909.
Today the RM surrounds the village of Meota, where its office is located, along with the resort villages of Aquadeo, Cochin and Metinota. A number of organized hamlets also lie within its boundaries, including Bayview Heights, Day's Beach, Lakeview, Lanz Point, Martinson's Beach, Maymont Beach, Prince, Pelican Point, Sleepy Hollow, Summerfield Beach, Trevessa Beach and West Chatfield Beach.
Visitors are drawn to Jackfish Lake, Meota Regional Park, the Cochin Bridge and The Battlefords Provincial Park. The RM is crossed by Highways 4, 26 and 769, and a Canadian Pacific Railway line that once ran through it has been abandoned.
